4:00am I am awakened by the faint sound of frozen raindrops tapping at the window.
4:05am My husband looks at me and groans, I better get going the roads will be slick.
4:20am The alarm goes off as I just begin to drift back to sleep. Damn him he forgot to shut it off.
4:30am I can’t sleep and turn on the news (worst idea ever). It’s all traffic and weather. The roads are bad, the icy wintry mix is here, there are slide offs everywhere, the travel times are increasing.
5:45am I must of dozed off. Great he should be at work by now.
6:00am WAKE UP! Get motivated, it’s going to be a great day!
6:10am The phone rings, My heart drops and the knot in my stomach emerges. It’s my husband’s company. The last time I answered a call from that number; my husband had been in an accident and rolled over in the cement truck he was driving. Every worse-case scenario plays through my mind within a few seconds, I’m staring at my phone. Oh no! A voice from inside me screams to answer it!!! I slide my finger across the phone screen and dreading the worst I swallow the lump that is now in my throat and say hello.
This is what I hear…….
.” Hey sweetie I forgot to put the garbage cans out. Can you do it before you leave? Oh, and I forgot my phone at home. I can feel the oxygen flood back into my lungs, sweet relief. Sure, no problem. I give him no hint about the terror I was feeling moments ago.
6:44am I PUT THE GARBAGE CANS OUT!!
